Harvester Brewing is a dedicated gluten-free brewery owned and run by James Neumeister and John Dugan. Every beer that they make is gluten-free and is made in their brewery where no gluten containing items are allowed through the door. They brew and bottle their beer from their production facility in SE Portland.

The Harvester Ethos
Local, dedicated, gluten-free. They source ingredients as locally as possible. The chestnuts come from Randy, their farmer in the Willamette valley. The hops are also from the Willamette Valley. They use no corn derived sugars or any coloring agents in the beer. The beers are vegan. All of the brewing, roasting, and bottling equipment is new and never used for anything but gluten-free beer.

Their approach to making great gluten-free beer is a simple one: don't start with what you don't want. They start with ingredients that are naturally gluten-free and craft them into great beers in the brewery. They don't and never will use barley, wheat or rye and then attempt to chemically or enzymatically remove the gluten.

Year Round Lineup

IPA No. 1
60 IBU ~5.8% ABV

Thsi IPA  uses Horizon, Willamette, Cascade and Meridian hops for a piney, citrusy, truly northwest IPA bitterness, flavor and aroma. The body to support these hops comes from our pale roasted chestnuts, certified GF oats, and organic tapioca maltodextrin.

Pale Ale
30 IBU ~5.8% ABV

This flavorful pale ale is handcrafted from chestnuts, sorghum, certified gluten-free oats, and pure cane sugar, and generously hopped with Nugget, Cascade, and Meridian. The chestnuts are sourced directly from an Oregon farmer and hand-roasted at the brewery. The certified gluten-free oats come from a Montana company that grows them in an area isolated from gluten containing grains and are tested by an independent lab.

Dark Ale
25 IBU ~4.5% ABV

The Dark Ale is the third beer rounding out Harvester's current lineup. It uses a very dark, near espresso-like roast of our chestnuts. The extra dark chestnuts lend a roasty flavor and aroma with notes of chocolate and dark fruits. The hops take a supporting role in this beer allowing the roastiness to come forward in the palette.
